  1. In Texas, if it has a wheel or more, it's considered a trailer and have to have a plate that's up to date. Also lights. The only exception to that is if it or what's on it will be used in a parade or 100% of the time on private property you don't need plates, just light....if a county maintained road runs thru the property, then you need plates, lights and brakes if over 2,500 pounds. Hope that makes sense! It never has to me... Carl
  2. Don. You forgot "self preservation".....I like me! I look at it this way, a weapon in a case and the ammo locked up?! Might as well carry a sling shot and rocks! Carl
  3. TwoGalsGo. Welcome to the Forum! Trek 2830 was and is a popular model. Are either of you a FMCA member? If not, check out all the benefits that we offer for little money per year! If you are a member, then look up the Trek chapter/club, under Chapter tab on main page. Also, get on Good Sam Forum, they have a Trek club. The last 2830 I saw, was a toad to a Marathon Coach. The owners are full time and love to fish and play golf. They used the Trek for weekends away from "base" campground....burned to the ground last summer in Colorado Owners just don't sell them very often. Good Luck. Carl
  4. Where in FL. are you? Swinging Golfers aka SWG is a chapter of FMCA and we do FL. in Winter, Carolinas and Texas in Fall. You can opt for here or send me a PM. Carl
  5. Joe. Smithfield Ham is now a China Company and they promised to use the USDA approved methods of butchering and hygiene... Yea, right ! Suppose that means no dogs or cats! Bet it cuts down on the feral anything population.. Carl

    Front End Noise

BigBen. Have you checked all the above? Also, is your generator on a slide out in front? I had a Tour 07' that one of the latches had broke off. By the time I could get to a garage, the other one failed and the whole unit came all the way out whenever I stopped! I think I was responsible for a few wet seats in the cars! Carl
  7. I have used them a lot in my pre independent front suspension and they do the job as advertised. Carl
  8. Tman. Factory switch? I really trust the guys that wire them together! I had a coach that "OFF" was "ON" and "ON" was "OFF"...fun! Carl
  9. AIR Never been a trucker, just 48 years of Class "A's". In the 80's we would tow a toad with a A frame hitch and no thought of brakes, but then they came out with laws! I like to keep the Insurance people and me happy. In 06' to 09' my toad was a 07' Silverado 2500 Duramax 4 x 4, Blue Ox 10K with brake master, newer had a problem with rotor or brakes, my coach was a 07' DP Winnebago Tour 40'. The law in most states, says that a toad or trailer over 2,500 pounds need it's own supplemental brake. So, unless you want a Smart car, that a rabbit will wipe out if you hit it, you need brakes! Your hitch is fine, as long as your coach is rated for 5K or more per law...I've seen some rally scary combinations on the Hwy's and am sure you and ObedB has also! Carl
  10. Herman. are you thinking about me? You really need spell check on names also! Brett, where will you be parked? Got me in GA 16. I'll be there the 14th....if I don't float away! Carl
  11. OK. Herman has a picture of him, Blake, Joe has picture of coach. How do I change my B & W shadow box picture? Tired of the "Casper image"! Carl
  12. Joe. Nice job ! Why the picture of the throne? Never could figure out the sink in bedroom thing. Carl
  13. Puff. On a serious note, it was not a happy day when I buried her ! Life goes on and I totally agree with Kay. 52 years, congratulations ! That's longer than Joes been alive, ! Carl
  14. I can see where your all controlled by the DW! You know, there is only one dessert that is harmful to your health? A wedding cake! Carl
  15. When it comes to electrical, any voltage will arch! Don't know where you get the "face shield/glove" thing from?! In RV application, we are not dealing with High Power Lines and power assisted breakers. Just the normal 50A!
  16. kmsheets. Welcome to the Forum! "scare" lights? What's that? In regards to siding it would help to know what part of the country your at. Carl
  17. Glad that I don't have to make that decision! Only one I have is, do I want to go via Atlanta, AL. or Tallahassee, FL. Either one is about a 180 miles further than taking I-20 across to secondary roads for Perry. Jury is still out. Carl
  18. FIVE. Did you go thru the FMCA Michelin Fleet discount when you got your tires? If not, why? Carl
  19. Joe. To answer your question. The Mountain Air has more bells and whistles than most, so yes he has a water fill off city water and he has the same side fill as I have. But, he is boondocking and needs a way to fill from bladder or a water truck...in other words a portable pump! Now, why anyone would take a High dollar coach out in the boonies is beyond my comprehension! Google Newmar. Carl
  20. ObedB. 65 in a Subaru? Yea, you would have a little problem! Bill. Gladewater is 12 miles from Longview, in Texas on Hwy. 80 north of I-20. I'm staying right where I am, in a nice big 70' x 120' barn ! All the rain will have left to East Coast by Sunday the 13th and that whole week (per NOAA) is dry, here and in Perry! Herman will be wet until Thursday this week. My coach is washed and I will wax it tomorrow in Barn! Where are you? 11 days to Forum get together! Carl
  21. Having had most of the brake systems, and given away some including a Blue Ox to a friend on this forum, I found that I like the Invisi Brake the best ! That said. They are all good, just depends on your ride (toad), coach and how much you are willing to pay! Everyone has what they like! I do agree with Brett ! Carl
  22. Ray. I run Heat Pump if above 40 degrees. Aqua Hot diesel below 40 and always for shower. AH Electric for dishes and cleaning! A long time ago in the land of me, I loved to ski. That's when we had a built in Ceramic gas heater! The greatest thing I ever had in a coach....it would keep us in shorts no matter how cold it got outside ! Carl
  23. Joe. Your not over thinking, a lot of folks use regular furniture in their RV's and it's safe as long as they are secured for travel....what ever makes a body comfortable works! You off course would get lost in a recliner that fits me! I would have to give you a ladder to reach my cabinets in my house! Your whole family could sleep cross wise on my Calif. King! Just a matter of perspective... Carl
  24. ObedB. I was born in Norway during WWll and you don't know the meaning of COLD tile bathrooms! For 10 years I froze 8 months a year... Bill. I know, he's booked about 8 to 10 months out.. Carl
  25. Thanks. Interesting read. Ever see a FEMA trailer up and personal? Guess the Gov. does not have to follow Gov. laws! Carl
