  1. I would go with 2 lithium 100 amp batteries, half the weight of lead acid, and 400+ watts solar on the roof. Lithium batteries can be discharged to 90%.
  2. If its a tilt only it will only be beneficial only if you are headed in the right direction. The mechanism needs to both tilt and rotate. When I bought my panels I asked what difference in output tilting would gain and was told only about 10 percent. I tested the output of my panels laying on my driveway and then tilted to the sun and they were correct. Just add a panel or two and more than make up the difference and not have all that extra stuff on the roof.
  3. Hi Roger, if you only have one vent through the roof there has to be a tee. If you can't see the pipe inside the coach the only solution I know is to drop a inspection camera down the pipe and see where the tee is. Once you find it use a snake and guide it into the tee going to the gray tank, then rotate the snake and push it in until it hits the bottom of the gray tank. Good luck.   4. I have always carried a spare in my 45 years of motorhoming and about 10 coaches. I have had to use the spare several times over the years. When I went to Alaska I was told to carry a spare so I put an extra spare in the bed of the pickup. Never need either one. All of the people that had tire problems had trailers. At least a dozen.
  5. Thats what I would do as that is unacceptable behavior for anyone regardless of age.
  6. Years in the business doesn't guarantee success all the time. I have been in the RV repair business for 55 years and I was stumped the other day with my charging system and my inverter. Woke up and my batteries were at 8.5 volts. The inverter failed and instead of shutting off at 11.6 volts it took the batteries down. This is when I discovered that the two batteries were tied together by the previous owner. I had to use my portable generator and charger to charge the chassis batteries so I could start the engine. I have been working on the problem on the road ever since. I will be in Indiana this afternoon on my way to Gillette, the long way from Arizona.

  11. I have always used Roadmaster tow bars and M&G brake system.
  12. I think its a medium duty truck, between a pick-up and a 18 wheeler.
  13. Its probably the radius of the rear control arms rotating. It will always roll forward not backwards when the back lowers.
  14. The most accurate way to test batteries is load test. I use the inverter and a 1500 watt heater. Hook up the inverter only to the battery bank. Use the output of the inverter to power the heater and an electric alarm clock. Set the clock at 12 noon and plug it in with the heater. Use the charger in the inverter until it goes to float. The inverter will shut off the output when the preset voltage is reached. If you use the same inverter and heater you can get repeatable results. The clock will indicate how many hours and minutes life in the batteries. If you do this when the batteries are new then you have a baseline.
  15. The problem with the classifieds in the magazine for sale is that a large majority of the listings are brokers wanting to buy coaches. Very few coaches are for sale, like one in twenty.
  16. I have a lighter coach but I use Toyos. About 2/3 the cost.
  17. 1998. Lived a full life! I was talking to my friend who is the service trainer for Spartan chassis and he said somewhere around 10 years is the expected life of a bag. Some go a lot longer. I am going to replace all four bags when I get home. I just installed a used bag I carry with me.
  18. Problem solved. Did not have any thing to do with the dump valve. Turns out right front air bag split. Replaced the bag today and it seems to be working fine.
  19. No, they won't inflate but I have tank pressure. I think its the dump valve assy because it won't inflate the bags. When I bought this coach it had just under a 100K miles and the air driver filter had never been changes. I think some debris maybe contaminated the system. It has worked ok for over 3 years, 20K miles, since I changed the filter.

    air bags

    checked into a campground and my air dump is not working. I started it this morning and the tanks aired up but when I move the lever to the right the bags don't air up. When I move the lever to dump there is no air sound. Any Ideas. Freightliner 36 ft Discovery.
  21. The engine battery is probably the wrong size, it should be a group 27 or 31. Also it should be a starting battery not deep cycle. Usually the generator starts off the house batteries. With the engine running the battery voltage on the start battery should be over 13 volts, the same for the house batteries. If you have to replace the alternator get the highest amp that will fit.
