Mine is on the top left corner of the rear cap, I used 2 strips of double-sided tape to attach it 4-5 years ago, or whenever I joined.
  3. I assume you are full-time, if not the USPS makes mail forwarding easy on their website.
  4. IMO there is more to see in CA than in AK., but AK has it's own special stuff; in particular, look into taking a flight around Mt. Denali or the one that goes over the top. (you got to wear an O2 mask) If you are active or retired military or ret. DOD,(Canadian or US) think about the special military active recreational travelers =SMARTRVing.org Alaska caravan.

    1995 Safari Sahara

Welcome! Please sign-in and take part in any discussions-often.. To me it seems NAPA, while a bit more expensive, has a much wider selection of parts available overnight if not in-store; plus they seem to have more ready access to HDT parts.
  6. Well, at least the thief/burglar taught us how to get in if we lock ourselves out. What every storage facility needs is a hungry junk-yard dog, it won't just watch like a camera.
  7. Yep, the ECM records mileage and cannot be reset unless the entire ECM programming is wiped and new installed. For this type problem the person to contact is the state attorney general.

    Tow dolly

I agree too; only your agent can give you a definitive answer. For instance in Indiana the trailer or wagon is covered by the towing vehicle's full-coverage policy, ONLY as long as they are attached.
  9. De-ionized water is somewhat like softened water, which removes calcium carbonate, lime, and magnesium, and others, by replacing those ions with salt ions; de-ionized water also removes salt ions but is not totally ion free, that would only be distilled water. I really like the method CWSwine uses, it's cheap, effective and easy = the KISS method. I already have a 12V pump W/garden hose connections, a stack of buckets and a pocketful of change. So maybe I have to buy 5G distilled water 4X a year, how much does DI water cost, filters cannot make it?
  10. If you have a rear camera and a good ground guide backing is easy if you watch and listen to both, and remember GOAL = Get Out And Look when you have any doubts. In my garage I have 2 white reflectors on the back wall to help position the MH the right distance from the side-wall. I measured my rear overhang and measured from the back wall to where my rear tires would set + 3' behind the rear cap for working on the engine. I back our MH into the garage by myself without any problems, it's all about getting lined-up before your rear cap enters the opening to the building. P.S. this is NOT a timed event. The storage width depends on if you may want to extend the slides while i storage, I too would prefer the 14'X50' size for that reason.

    brake lights

Your switches, connections and grounds might just need a good cleaning, it costs nothing but time and effort. My water heater would not stay lit yesterday, I unplugged and reattached the flame sensor wire on the control board and the WH began working fine.
  12. I finally received a response from "Buck" with MSRV that 2008 MH was already sold, they are just waiting on the new owner to come take it home. That 2008 at PPL Bill provided looks great too, we might pursue that one. We talked about our future, our health, how much longer we will be able to travel in a MH, and are swaying towards keeping our old Ultimate Freedom for as long as it or us(I'm 79) are able to travel. I've kept it in top condition, and it should have many trouble-free years ahead. The trade-in value is below $25k from everyone we've talked to about trading up, yet the average book value is ~$50k. An aside; I was making sure everything works before leaving for FL. and the water heater would not stay lit. I unplugged and re-attached the igniter/flame sensor wire from the potted control board and now it works as designed. It's a wonder how low voltage terminals can corrode enough to insulate the connection, simply from not being used.
  13. Without pinching the tube is best.
  14. Thanks Bill! That one also opened a path to more American Coach units. We aren't getting in a hurry, if it's meant to be, it will happen.
  15. Especially when you are full-timing, the floorplan is very important to you both. If either is not completely happy with the floorplan, it will NEVER get better. I'm also looking for a MH, a floorplan with 1 ½ baths are our must-haves at our ages. Another must is being able to access the entire coach with slides retracted. We have some friends who bought a new MH then later discovered they cannot access the bathroom when slides are retracted. Another item to watch for with diesel pushers is engine HP. Without the add actually stating the engine, the HP will tell you when looking at diesel pushers built since 2010, Any add stating HP under 370 is now usually a B 6.7 Cummins medium-duty engine. Many who have bought a new MH with this engine are unhappy with performance in mountainous/hilly terrain. All other Cummins engines used are heavy-duty engines with more HP and torque.
  16. Speaking of DEF, I was reading the news on MSN and read an article about S. Korea having such a shortage of DEF truckers were being sidelined when they ran out. It said S. Korea imports virtually all DEF from China. Anyway, MHSRV isn't bothering to return my emails or calls. The contacts name there is Buck Buckner.
  17. This MH is still listed on MHSRV website as sale pending. No further contact from sales dept.
  18. Be sure the outside shower valve are off. It is not uncommon for someone to use the shutoff button on the shower head and forget the valves are open.
  19. Small generators will usually have a battery charger function, however it is normally <8A output. It is IMO better to carry a small 15-30A stand-alone smart battery charger and power it by the generator. To gain more knowledge about batteries and chargers, take the time to read through these websites. https://www.batterystuff.com/kb/articles/battery-articles/battery-basics.html and https://batteryuniversity.com/ A good website to learn all about the 12VDC side of your MH electricl system is: The 12V side of life(parts 1 and 2)
  20. A converter changes 120VAC to 12VDC and charges battery bank. There is no need for one with your MH type. An inverter changes 12VDC to 120VAC and charges battery bank so you may run the microwave, coffee maker, etc when dry camping. What is the brand name of your converter?
  21. Check to see if your charger function is turned on in your inverter panel.
  22. Interesting response email. I had emailed MHSRV of Texas about that MH. Today the response said they were sorry they couldn't get back to me, or if i phoned, that they didn't answer. Buck Buchner said they had 12-15 salesmen on duty on any given day, and they have been getting 200-300 calls a day; and to look at their inventory for something that might suit me. Bottom line, I have no idea if that MH is still on the market, it's still on their website.
  23. Yes, when I left them our MH I shut off the main disconnect. When they worked on it they turned it back on and never bothered to turn it back off. I even had a post-it note over the speedo.. They must do that regularly, because there was a full pallet of new batteries by the shop entrance from the service writers desk.
  24. Camping World of Indianapolis did that to our MH. The 1 yr old coach battery bank was ruined. When I spoke with the service manager he quickly said, " pull it around to the service check-in and I'll have new batteries installed. I did and he did; I was enroute back home in 2 hours.
  25. Drain the water heater tank too, open all low-point drains, then open all faucets + shower. Then do as Richard advised; don't forget to attach the air hose to the city water inlet to blow out that line and the water pump. Begin closing faucets at closest to the water pump. Any remaining water should be in such a small quantity that freezing should not harm your plumbing. I really doubt water in your plumbing will freeze hard enough to cause any damage anyway. Those lows only occur for approx. 1-2 hrs. prior to daylight There will always be a small amount of water remaining in the fresh water tank and water heater, it is of no consequence; if it does freeze any ice will expand upward instead of outward due to the large surface area and shallow depth.
