First, what does your manufacturer state is the proper procedure? Mine states level 1st and then extend slide outs. I have had 3 motor homes, and they have all been the same. But I have read that some manufacturers recommend extend then level. I think it depends on how the RV was assembled.

When I had this problem, I was told by HWH that there was an electrical problem. After tracing through the circuit starting at the brake sensor line, I found that the ground wire nut at the pump and control was 2 turns loose. Tightened it and all is well. Suggest that you trace power at the control and pump before doing much else.

OK. Start out as I posted above. Just don’t follow the second breaker steps.

I think you have two output breakers. If you turn both off, can you then turn on the inverter? If it trips the 30 amp breaker then you probably have a problem with the converter/charger in the inverter or wiring to the batteries. If it does not trip, try closing one if the breakers. If it trips breaker, the problem is in the attached circuit. If it doesn’t trip breaker then open that one and close the other breaker. If it trips, you now know which circuit has the problem.

Fix for broken plastic window latch / lock
rossboyer replied to bikeryder's topic in Type A motorhomes
I took a short piece of 1.5” aluminum angle, trimmed with saber saw and file to match old latch. Drilled one hole and pop riveted in place. Oh, I painted it black also. -
Since it is a diesel, do not start unless you can travel at least 25 miles. Running at idle will not get the engine and transmission hot enough. Otherwise, let it sit. Keep the batteries charged, keep fuel full and add biocide if it will set more than a couple of months.

The reason I asked is that I just installed 20 LED fixtures in my shop, garage and kitchen which are 120VAC. Some of them are surface mounted. I was considering opening one to see if I could eliminate the electronics that change the 120VAC to probably 12VDC. If I can I would install two 48” fixtures in our motor home to replace the small ceiling fixtures in the living and kitchen area. I had changed those to LEDs a couple of years ago. While there are 4 strips of 6000 LEDs, they still don’t put out enough lumens.

Did you modify a 120vac fixture to be 12vdc? If so, please detail the specifications of the fixture and steps to modify.

Once you purchase and have a need for service, make the call. According to the president of the parent company that provides this service, if you think the representative on the phone isn’t doing what you think should be done; hang up and call again. There are 2,000 services that answer the phone not all are really familiar with the services that are to be provided to you. Many don’t even know what a RV is or the different types that require different handling. That being said, be sure to read the contract; because those are the services and limits that are provided.

I don’t know where you are located, but I have had 4 windshields replaced by Duncan Systems. They have a very large warehouse and installation facility in Elkhart, Indiana. 574-584-2238. They have authorized installers across the country. I had 3 installed at the warehouse and another at Perry, GA. They do many installations for various manufacturers in the Elkhart area. The only thing they asked was that I not drive out if their lot fir 3 hours to be sure the sealant set.

The 2019 & 2020 Chevrolet Equinox’s needs the same. Looks like Chevrolet is standardizing on this method at least until they change.

You are correct.

Need new Air Conditioner for Motorhome
rossboyer replied to sr4au1's topic in Systems and Appliances
May need capacitor(s). -
I do not have a Tiffin product, but on my motor home the engine generator charges the chassis batteries then when they are charged the house batteries are charged. So it all depends on how the manufacturer has set up the charging system. Also, if there is a battery minder, all the batteries may be charged at once, but at different charge rates.

Actually, I know what was on mine. They were Monrow. Since we bought our coach used with 3,000 miles on it, I doubt that they were other than original.

I use and like the Koni FSD shocks, also. Much better ride than the OEM shocks, but I don’t know know brand those were.

You can opt out of receiving hard copy. I looked on the web site but didn’t find where you could opt out. You may have to call Membership Services, 513-387-5319 to request it. Eliminating the hard copy does not eliminate the FMCA Staff to produce the digital version. I am not suggesting that be done, because the magazine is valuable to communicate to all members. I receive both ways, because I use the hard copy as a recruiting tool.

Probably the regulator needs to be replaced.

I use Excel, but I don’t track travel locations. Primarily used to track travel expenses, maintenance and purchased items for motor home. I use to track camping fees, but I don’t do that anymore.

I installed my own, but there were 64 torx screws to remove and reinstall on our 2019 Chevrolet Equinox.

If you are trying turn it on and the engine is running, there is an interlock to prevent watching tv while driving.

Wouldn’t say they last forever. I just replaced the grate on my baby Q and the grate, burners and igniter on my Q3000. But the parts are readily available.

At 90 outside the vents in our motor home are discharging 55-58 degree air.

How careful must I be walking on Class A roof?
rossboyer replied to Lightnup's topic in Type A motorhomes
To resolve an antenna problem, I had 3 men on my roof that were standing less than 5 feet apart to discuss the issue. They probably weighed more than 280 pounds each. So I doubt there us a problem with weight. It is more of a problem with your safety.- 24 replies
