Winnebago Adventurer Heater Blower Location
hermanmullins replied to 343coach's topic in Systems and Appliances
340coach, Welcome to the Forum. On our first coach there was a junction box under the bench seat. It was like a plennum(?) with duct work coming from it. The blower fan was located there. Hope you find yours. Winters coming on. -
Roger, as Brett said, "Welcome to the Forum". You didn't say what kind of coach you have or what year model it is. This will have a lot of bearing on what the insurance company will do. If your coach is almost new and has a high value they might go ahead and repair it. If not they may decide to total it. Here are my thoughts: Since you are close to Florida, there is a really good company in the area that can totally rebuild the insides of your coach-- check with then. I believe their name and website is http://classiccoachworks.com They will know how long it would take to remove your interior and how long it would take to replace it. They might be able to give you a cost for the rewiring at the same time. If you fried the entire electrical system 120 and 12 volt, I am sorry to say it but it might be better to replace the coach then to repair it. If the rig is rewired from scratch I can foresee ghost and goblins popping up for some time. I am so sorry for your problems. Hope it works out for you and you get back on the road soon. If they rewire your coach you might consider having them install a surge protector in the rig.

Problem With Workhorse R20 Chassis-- Fan Hub Bolt Failure
hermanmullins replied to reid9439's topic in Chassis
Sorry for your mishap. However I can't understand how Workhorse has any thing to do with the problem with your engine. If you feel that you are owed something for your problem, you are looking for the wrong company to be angry with. Cummins made the engine and the fan that broke. You didn't say how many miles you have on your coach or how well it has been maintained. Sorry. -
Joe, Welcome to RVing. The way to check for a draw on your batteries is to disconnect you positive cable from the post. Connect a volt meter between the + post and the + cable. If the meter registers voltage you have a draw. It is a long task but if you see voltage on the meter remove fuses one at a time if you still see voltage replace the fuse and pull the next one. If you remove a fuse and the voltage drops to zero that will be the one that has something drawing down your batteries. As Brett said you can use a hydrometer to check each cell. I have a load tester I got from Northern Tool, about $15.00. I check mine with it. I make sure the batteries a fully charged and check each one by them selves. One of the first fuses to pull would be the radio, it has a small draw for the memory. Good luck.

Welcome to the Forum. What kind of coach do you have? Your step should operate in 12 volt power. Did you by some chance turn off the battery switch? If so your step will not operate. You might also have a bad magnetic switch in your door, if so again your step won't operate. Let us know what you find.

Check with Essex in Florida.(You can find them in Family Motor Coach Mag.) They found me a great rate when we bought our current coach. They got us a rate 2% less then the dealer and it was with Wacovia, now Wells Fargo. Be sure that you have some equity in your coach or that it hasn't dropped in value where you may have to pay off some of your current note to be able to refinance.

And all this time I thought it was nice that I knew that the pump was working. Bill dun tolded you well, Brett too.

dog, This type of unit is sold by many companies and make great claims to improving torque and milage. If you gain 1/2 mpg how long will it take to recope your money? The units I have seen can be set for economy, power cruve or HP gains but not together. My son got a unit for his Ford diesal. He can get better milage but loses power. He can set it on high preformance and smoke the tires but his fuel goes up in smoke behind his suv. You can gain alot better milage by just slowing down 10 MPH. You can get more power for hills by ingreasing your RPM just before you start up a steep grade and it doesn't cost $395.00+. Just my thoughts. Good Luck

On any material, fiber glass, cast iron, rubber roof, etc. when planning to repair a crack or tear it is always good to drill or cut a small hole or circle at each end of the tear or crack. If not done the tear or crack can run. The hole or circle will prevent the crack or tear from becoming worse . Just an old trick from 40 years of welding experience.

Joe, A 7 year old coach with only 13,000 miles says to me to look at the interior of the coach really well. There can be several thing that would cause there to be such low milage. Did the original owner buy the coach and then decide that RVing was not for them? Did he become ill and was not able to use the coach or did they use it to live in, winter in the south and summer in the north? If it was used to live in the interior might be worn. Have the engine looked at by a professional. I have always purchased pre-owned cars and RVs. Some people purchase new because they don't want someones else's problems. I look at it this way, The unit has already taken the greatest deprecation in the first 2 years and all of the bugs have been worked out under warranty. If there are any problems I can do most of the work myself and if I have problems I can't figure out I always have the Forum and Brett. Help doesn't get any better then that. So look over the unit and have a professional check out everything. Good Luck

LP Gas Not Flowing To Appliances
hermanmullins replied to bigbryank's topic in Systems and Appliances
I had this problem on one of our coaches. It turned out that I had a bad Gas Leak Detecter. Each time we took the coach out I had to spray the unit with a can of compressed air (computer cleaning). It would work until the next time we turned off the gas for storage, Then we would have to spray it again. When I replaced the unit no more problems. Good Luck- 7 replies

I too have a friend that tows a Colorado and he has no complaints. He also carries a golf cart in the P/U. He has said that it tows nicely however he has the 4 cylinder and says it doesn't have enough power. Good tow, good milage, not much power.

Then I'm on my way as early as possible. When I make these kind of stops I'm on my way somewhere and I'm making the most of the daylight I have on any given day. Tom, Judging from the time of your post, 2:34 am, you are going to make alot out of the daylight today. Enjoy California and stay away from Van Horn

Fresh Water Tank Filling With City Water
hermanmullins replied to fabloom's topic in Water and Holding Tanks
fabloom, Welcome to the Forum. I had the same problem as yours. As Brett said, "Check Valve". Call Shurflo and you can order one from them. Its a snap to install literally, you remove the old one and the new one just "snaps" in place. Walla, problem solved. Good Luck -
Used Diesel Mortorhome Purchase Advice
hermanmullins replied to HemiSuperBee's topic in Buying an RV
SuperBee, Welcome to the Forum. From your post this will be your first Motor Home. If so have you had Travel Trailer, 5th wheels or popups? If this is your first adventure into a motor home, might I suggest that you rent a MH and see if you like this style of Traveling. If you do like it you will get an idea of what you want in a MH. If you don't care for it, it will be a small investment rather then $XXX,XXX.00. I my self have had two Monacos and dearly loved each one. They both gave and still do give us great service and comfort. If you are still looking and haven't made your purchase yet let me suggest the following Dealers for per-owned Coaches. Mr Olivers RV in McKinney, TX and Motor Homes of Texas, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Both of these dealers carry very good and clean units. -
First Time Towing - CR-V
hermanmullins replied to johnnyringo's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Jay, Welcome to the Forum and to RVing. I agree that you just may not be used to towing. It is good that you notice these things. As you continue to travel you will be more comfortable and have more confident in yourself. How does your CRV drive? You might have the alignment checked. It might be just a little out and you don't notice it when you a driving but it may not be tracking correctly and that is what you are feeling. As you tow you might keep an eye on the front tires of the CRV and look for cupping. This would be a sign of alignment issues. Good luck and keep the Forum abreast of your solution. -
The best way to have International Rallies would be to split them each year. I know that having all of the rallies in the middle is convenient for the FMCA Staff. I believe that all even numbered years (2012-14-16 etc) should be west of the Rockies and all odd years (2013-15-17 etc) should be east of the Mississippi. East Coast and middle America will have a close location to attend and the West Coast and middle America would have the same. It would be nice for all rallies be close to a major family attraction (Six Flags- Disney World- Sea World- Nasa). This would allow Families Make it a vacation for the whole Family. This might attract the families with children. Just a thought.

Jaaybird, Welcome to the Forum. I am sorry that Coach Net had to ask you so many questions, however they need to know the information to get the closest service to you. I am sure they are also sorry that they don't have service companies every 10 miles along every route in the USA. As for the driver trying to "fleece us", this was not Coach Nets Fault. I am sure that if your brought this to their attention that that service company would be dropped from their call list. I believe that Coach Net did just what they needed to do to get you service as soon as was possible. The name you should be expounding on should be the service company that tryed to Fleece You. There are a lot of RVers out there that would like to know who to avoid. Good luck and are glad that you had the spare tire so you didn't have to buy one from the company sent to service you. By the way did the company sent out call you to check on your location? Did Coach Net keep in touch with your to asure you were taken care of? They have always followed up when I needed them.

JohnT, If the light fixture you are replacing have a small push and turn bulb, it is a 12 volt. You can get 120 volt screw in incandescent bulbs but they are special. The old bulbs, if they are what I described, can be found at any auto part house. To get screw in 12 volt incandescent bulbs you will have to go to an RV or Marine supply house. Might I suggest that you go to a RV supply house and see what they have to replace your fixtures.

I don't know, with todays electronics, why a person would change tire sizes and not have their speedometer recalibrated. One, this would give a response to the Warranty Co. that your mileage was accurate and two, it would sure help eliminate the possibility of tickets because your spedometer was wrong.

Welcome to the Forum slowe. Keep a RV park guide handy. I would use it and http://rvparkreviews.com to check out the parks along your route. Each day you are planning on traveling estimate where you might want to end up for the night. Then you can check on parks in that area. Since it seems that you are in no hurry to get a special location, I would make my destination each day you travel, a spot that sounds interesting. Spend two nights. This way you will be able to see the local sights, spend the night and travel the next. Too often we are in such a hurry that we miss lots of nice places and wonderful people along the way. So go, relax and enjoy this wonderful country of ours. Note from Moderator: I corrected the link per Don's post below. Thanks Don.

Welcome to the Forum. Your Jeep Wrangler weighs 3,740 lbs as per the towing guide. A braking system is required in most states for that weight. You didn't say what kind of MH you have. You will need to have your Steering wheel unlocked to tow. and if you are set on using the BrakeMaster unit you will need power to your unit. However when you have the power on your mileage will rack up just like your were driving it. Might I suggest that you have a 12 volt source (your MH) connected to your Jeep straight to a aux. (Cig. lighter) receptical, fused of course. This will supply you with power and not drain your Jeep's battery. Then I would go to a mechanic and have them remove the steering wheel locking pin so you won't have to turn on your key. By doing this you can remove your key, lock the doors and feel secure that someone will not try to steal your Jeep at WalMart.

Bob, as Brett said, Welcome to the Forum. Can you hear the air releasing when you press and hold down the dump button? Our last coach had the same problem and found the solenoid valves that release the air had the exhaust ports clogged with dirt dobbers nest. I cleaned the ports and was then able to dump the air. As Brett also asked what kind of system do you have?
