Who, What, When, Where or Just Lets Talk
manholt replied to hermanmullins's topic in General Discussion
Linda did chili last night..She does not eat spicy food, so when cooking is done, I take some in a separate pot & add a kick to it. Meat only! With beans it's not right...When we where in Eastern Canada, we got wild (not farmed) salmon and cut into dinner portions, then in freezer it went..we did the same with "Hockey Puck" size fresh scallops in Digby, NS. So, tonight I'm grilling both, I use fresh lemon juice, garlic & butter. I left 25 lbs of frozen cooked lobster meat ( 1 lb per pack) in freezer at house! A lot of sea food chowder over winter!!! -
To sanitize my water system...I do like DD69 does and I have a 100 gal. tank, same with water hose...been using HP for over 50 years and has not killed me yet. I also gargle with HP as I don't like the taste of mouth wash! RayIN...go figure.

I used to run them on Gas MH. They stood up to the use & abuse...have nothing bad to say!

Forgot about them...unbelievable selection! -
Ditto on mine!

I remember my first 7 months, all to well, thank you!

That leads back to Joe's suggestion on 8/25! This coach needs a total service of both engine & chassis, DOT info of tires, batteries. Have you added fuel since purchase? The coach has been sitting a lot if it only has 46k miles in 24 years!!! Works on gas, NOT a DP!

I must say that in the past year, I have heard about PR issues and issues with the receiver, has been an on going problem for some time now. However, there are still more +++ for Blue Ox than minuses. I use Roadmaster! I did have a Blue Ox 10,000 lbs, but gave it to a friend, when I stopped towing a big truck...understand it still works and is now 12 years old. I say this, because we don't get positive posts very often!

Ross. Ford Chassis, Triton V10. Tranny & oil analysis is a must, I would do the same with rear end, look for rust. 40' is a DP Cummings 350...

DD69, how do you keep them cool ?

Moth balls are poison! The fumes effect all living things, except moths! Cotton balls & a drop of Pepper mint oil, Rodent-be-Gone granular bags from Farm & Ranch Feed Store, Sulfa powder from Tractor Supply! We use Rodent-be-Gone, in each bay, generator bay, engine bay & a couple inside coach...1 bag holds 24 small bags for $18. Once a year, we order 2 dozen bags & that takes care of all the buildings, trucks, cars, 2 coaches, house and barns!

When are you leaving? I have been told that Labor Day weekend is as bad in NB & NS as States...

Mine don't have a dip stick...just a tank with mark for full & low. 2010 American Coach.

I have the same...I have had TCC look at it, that day it worked fine! 3 weeks later, stuck again...I hit it yesterday, so far, so good. I will be replacing my AC System later this year, so new Thermostat.

Best way to go East-West across USA
manholt replied to mailman's question in Destinations/Attractions
Coast to Coast, does not begin or end in Amarillo, TX.! Between now and mid October, I would not do it... -
Slobber tube?

You could have moved to Montana and been zero/zero!

TCH is good from border to Moncton, however it's got construction on a lot of segments, speed limit is mostly 110kh=65 mph, towns are 80 kh to 40 kh. Figure 10+ hours, your coach don't have my fuel capacity! You can't use the truck lanes for diesel or gas...front pumps only. You will also have a lot of traffic, most are going to PEI or Ferry's!

Welcome! Don't spend $$$ until after you do the free stuff first. What Brett don't know about Allison & CAT, is not worth knowing!
-
Eric, if you freeze up, take it off Auto and use High cool. I'm currently doing that on both of my working AC's due to high humidity! My welcome back to USA from 2 months in Eastern Canada present !!!

Coach, make, model and length, would help. Mine is on a 45' & hold 12 qts. If you have slide outs, it takes more fluid for the 2 or more slides. Jacks up, fluid up!

Ray, Yes if you call them. This coach is a GMC, I would guess it's a 1958 PD4104 conversion, GMC was owned by Greyhound Bus Co., when they went with Bluebird, they spun the chassis off to GM...GM actually improved upon it and the GMAC was born!

You may want to spend more than 2 night's in Big Bend. Where in Galveston?
-
Ray, we got the same photos, just in bright sunlight & 63 degrees! Heading for St. Andrews today, looked at Reversing River & water Fall yesterday! Will cross over to Main, Sunday am...trying to find a better way than 95 from boarder to past DC! If there is one, please advice...

Towing Cargo Trailer Behind a Class A
manholt replied to NanMWright's topic in Toads-Towed Behind Motorhome
Hello Nan, been a while. Congrats, your moving up! Got tired of the Pacific NW? Nice looking coach. Utility trailers are like RV's...you have many choices, both new & used in the duel axle, enclosed. It would help to know a few things, height of trailer, drop ramp or cargo doors, roof vent, electric plugs, tie downs, type of flooring? As Ray stated, weight is your biggest concern! IMHO you'll want a Aluminum trailer, like Feather light. How much does the UTV weigh? I found a 14', used aluminum, 3 years ago to carry my HD Trike to Parades..$1,800. It had a drop ramp & nothing else, I had a boat trailer shop add on the tie downs, cut a hole in roof for a small AC unit, got it wired inside for 10 amp plugs...I did the insulation and added a 3KW Honda generator. I pull it with my Jeep or a gas Chevy 2500 long bed P/U. With fuel it weight's 4,270. Carl C.
