  1. Agreed. Old stick Jeep. Even Golf carts can be made street legal, front/rear lights, rear view mirror. Turn signal is optional. 25mph is pretty much a standard and it's not just State, but County and City...never heard about Fed! We got them all over Galveston Island. Hwy. 87 and 3005 is State, everything else is the City of Jamaica Beach and Galveston! Snowmobiles, ATV's, UTV's, Mountain Bikes, Motor Cycles and a verity of 4x4's are allowed in National Forests and BLM on designated trails. All have a symbol showing what is and is not legal at trail head. Even horses have their own trails! In National Forests and BLM, you do not have to be street legal, but there are restrictions on tail pipes, to prevent fire. Carl
  2. Vince. The HEIST is a normal operation...It's the regeneration of the Particulate filter. Mine does it about every 4,000 miles and I have to keep the coach rolling, takes about 12 minutes and the exhaust goes from 500+/- degrees to over 1,100 + on both exhausts. Some engines are set up in such a way that you have to find a place to stop driving and let engine idle during the regeneration cycle. I have a 425hp Cummins, 2009. Carl
  3. UTV are generally used on ranches or big farms, to move feed, fencing, posts, etc. into an area that a tractor is to big for the environment. 6 or 8 wheelers are used in slush or bogs. 4 wheelers are also great hunting machines! You can get them in a 48V and gas engine configuration and 2 to 4 people seating. Cost start at $14,000. Carl
  4. WE are happy it worked out for you! Carl
  5. According to Newmar, with the correct class of hitch, 5,000 pounds, 500 pound hitch weight ! Carl
  6. True. Sometimes we chose to save a dime, for the wrong reason! Don't ask me how I know. I wish him the best. Carl
  7. WBill. You may not have to...she's a member of Forum & FMCA ! Carl
  8. For all of you. Welcome to the Forum! Hope you will attend the FMCA Reunion rally in Indianapolis, Indiana...July 12. You'll find it very informative and there will be Seminars to answer most of your questions on anything pertaining to Motorhomes and travel. Lot's of after market Vendors and some great entertainment. Carl
  9. It seems to come in three's! Hope you have enough propane for furnace and cooking...Shame about the tire! Carl
  10. Got it. GF was in my ear about lunch, so I blanked out, out of shear self preservation!
  11. Bill, we didn't hear back from OP, so I guess it just migrated back to the land we love...Texas!
  12. Good grief ! That's like a good FMCA Reunion! I half expected a good turnout, due to Quartzite being over by March 7th...just not 2,000+ coaches! Carl
  13. Where you on shore power? Also, do you have a built in Surge Protector? If your on shore power, you might have had a power interrupt and when it comes back on your SP checks the circuits for continuity and correct mhz. about 2 min. Carl
  14. Ray, how are you both doing? Better? Hope it's warmed up some for you! Carl
  15. Totally agree! In the event of a break down in a area with lousy phone service, you can go and fetch help...also good for sightseeing and shopping! I even take mine when I go to Cummins in Houston for Service, 63 miles! My girlfriend is parked next to me at a rally in Bourne, now and we both have toads and she lives less than 2 hours away! Carl
  16. Hate it, when that happens! The next time your in the Big Bend area, go to the general store in Lajitas...it's owned and operated by the Resort...can't miss it, the Mayor lives next door! They have a deli and carry stuff you normally find at HEB. Prices are very reasonable....so is the Maverick RV Park, next door, full HU, wifi, cable and a club house with pool. $35 a night. Room at Resort start at $395. Oh, Mayor of Lajitas is a goat ! The Resort covers 37,000 acres and has daily flights to Dallas! Carl
  17. As stated in other posts, use a bungee cord on your steering wheel.
  18. Since you have the model number, I would start calling RV Salvage yards, might find one! As for if you do, will it work? Probably! Or do as Jim suggests...I would do both. Carl
  19. John. Nice thought, but clean up? Same reason why I would use my .22 on an intruder, not the 12 gauge!
  20. Gil, it's an old post. However I did get it replaced at TCC and I paid cash. I carry Liability only with a multi million dollar umbrella policy. Had I had full coverage it would have been covered, but I still would have to pay $1,000 deductible. Over the last 10 years, I'm way ahead. Carl
  21. Gil. Welcome again. I would expect in excess off 700 plus Vendors. I always have a toad, never know when you need one. For the RV Basic and Weighing, I would call FMCA at 1-800-547-3622. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, also some fast food, not many. Elect. is a personal thing. Carl
