Have a friend in Galveston that uses a bottle. Last year he and his DW drove their car all the way to Alaska and back. This year they are doing all Canada. 2 years ago, they flew to London, England, rented a car and did all of Europe and then took the Orient Express RR from Budapest to Amsterdam....they love the mobility! Agree with ObedB. I took it in 2014 with my current rig and had a pleasant drive, nice scenery and a lot less traffic! Carl

Al. How long is the extension to the truck frame? The extension is your weakest link. Your cable hook up is a great idea. I had a 97' Allegro 31' and a friend removed my hitch and welded extension rails that was long enough to make the new attachment point on the frame in front of extension weld and two other attachments to extension! I hauled a 16' enclosed trailer with 12 Honda 750 motor cycles for El Mina Shrine temple motor patrol, with no problems, all over the US. Just a suggestion. Carl

You will also find the recommended Oil and Coolant at any Cummins shop or call them and find the appropriate brand at Wall Mart or Truck Stop! Carl

In Texas, if it has a wheel or more, it's considered a trailer and have to have a plate that's up to date. Also lights. The only exception to that is if it or what's on it will be used in a parade or 100% of the time on private property you don't need plates, just light....if a county maintained road runs thru the property, then you need plates, lights and brakes if over 2,500 pounds. Hope that makes sense! It never has to me... Carl

TwoGalsGo. Welcome to the Forum! Trek 2830 was and is a popular model. Are either of you a FMCA member? If not, check out all the benefits that we offer for little money per year! If you are a member, then look up the Trek chapter/club, under Chapter tab on main page. Also, get on Good Sam Forum, they have a Trek club. The last 2830 I saw, was a toad to a Marathon Coach. The owners are full time and love to fish and play golf. They used the Trek for weekends away from "base" campground....burned to the ground last summer in Colorado Owners just don't sell them very often. Good Luck. Carl

BigBen. Have you checked all the above? Also, is your generator on a slide out in front? I had a Tour 07' that one of the latches had broke off. By the time I could get to a garage, the other one failed and the whole unit came all the way out whenever I stopped! I think I was responsible for a few wet seats in the cars! Carl

AIR Never been a trucker, just 48 years of Class "A's". In the 80's we would tow a toad with a A frame hitch and no thought of brakes, but then they came out with laws! I like to keep the Insurance people and me happy. In 06' to 09' my toad was a 07' Silverado 2500 Duramax 4 x 4, Blue Ox 10K with brake master, newer had a problem with rotor or brakes, my coach was a 07' DP Winnebago Tour 40'. The law in most states, says that a toad or trailer over 2,500 pounds need it's own supplemental brake. So, unless you want a Smart car, that a rabbit will wipe out if you hit it, you need brakes! Your hitch is fine, as long as your coach is rated for 5K or more per law...I've seen some rally scary combinations on the Hwy's and am sure you and ObedB has also! Carl
