  1. We go to Arizona to Happy Trails RV Resort in Surprise, but we cannot go until late December. Check out Happy Trails. 2000 sites and loads of things to do if you want to do them.
  2. I think that most mount them on the rear ladder, and ladder mounts are listed in Family Motor Coaching in the Kiley Mold ad. Those in front are usually mounted where a front license plate would be. If you can not put it there, there are suction cups available at the on line FMCA store that would allow them to be mounted inside on the windshield where it would not obstruct the drivers view. I made a support from one inch aluminum from a big box store for my front plate, area low brow and officer top brow. The aluminum is easy to drill and bend into any shape needed to clear the contours of of the cap on the front of the coach. So you can see thatt there isn't any preferred way to display, but I am very happy that you want to display the Membership Plate or "Goose Egg".
  3. Have you looked at the Cheverolet Equinox? We have towed ours for about 30,000 miles. It has an automatic tranmission, but you do need to pull one fuse. I installed a switch to turn off the circuit so I don't have to pull the fuse. I did have a problem with proper installation of a Break Buddy and switched to Air Force One breaking system, a very good company. The adapters to attach my tow bar came from Roadmaster. The directions are very complete and took me about 3 hours comlete the installation with standard tools. Wireing the brake and tail lights took much longer.
  4. A contract could not be completed for the site in northwestern Ohio. The new site will be Elkhart County Fairgrounds in Goshen, Indiana. The first day of the rally will be Wednesday, September 18th and departure will be Sunday, Sep. 22nd, 2013. There will be full 30 amp power available and some 50 amp full hook up sites. There have been several site visits and more are planned during October to workout the details. In the spring, there will be a meeting at the fairgrounds for Great Lakes Area Chapter representatives to finalize plans for this rally. This a great facility and the staff really knows the business of providing resources for our motor homing lifestyle.
  5. I have installed SeaLevel sensors in three coaches. These are the only ones that have worked well. Digital display reads 6% increments.
  6. Yes, you should be able to do so. Hopefully, the connector is easy reach. I suggust that you not leave the hose connected when you are not cooking because the connection is a full tank pressure connection. Should the hose leak or rupture, a major loss of propane could cause an explosion. I don't have one of those connections on this coach and due the fittings and tank location, I cannot add one. I use a 7 pound tank. When I have my coach tank filled, I have that tank filled, too. Only one time did I empty the 7# tank, but I carry a one pound spare that I also use with a torch for other purposes.
  7. While I think Camping World has one, J C Whitney may cost less. The ones I have seen have a hitch ball on a frame above two wheels with a long handle that you tilt down to raise the ball under the trailer hitch to roll it around. I have seen powered ones that require a 120v extention cord. Maybe that would good, too..
  8. We have used Angel Soft for years without problems. Key is to not conserve on water when flushing regardless of tissue brand.
  9. The change of angle causes the weight to increase on the rear tires. Cupping is usually caused by being out of alignment or low pressure for the weight being carried.
  10. I have used Delorme since the first release of Street Atlas. There is a learning curve as there is any software, but it does allow you to plan your complete trip. When making plans for a trip where I need to cross the country, I put in overnight stops, fuel stops, preferred routes to see a site that I want to see, etc.
  11. I would turn off all breakers then plug in to see if you trip your house GFI. If you do, there is a problem with the main line to your coach, possibly a grounded wire or a shorted neutral and ground. If not, turn on main breaker. Your GFI sould not trip. Now one by one turn on one of the single breakers and check each time to see if you trip your GFI until you find the one that trips your GFI. Hopefully, you are familular with using a meter and testing procedures, because once you find which breaker causes your GFI to trip, you will need to trace that circuit to find the problem. This will be the hard task. One of my circuits has 19 outlets and 3 juction boxes and just getting to the wire and boxes is not easy, under the bed, behind cabinets, under other cabinets, behind trim and false panels, etc. Please keep us posted on your progress.
  12. There is one in Anderson, IN just west of HH Gregg on 53rd street. I do not know the name.
  13. Lebanon, Forest Manor Motel & RV Park, $29.90/Passport rate $14.95. Marshfield, RVEXPRESS, Easy Access, all paved lot at motel w/full hook ups, $30. Strafford, RV PARK STRAFFORD, crushed stone lot - nothing fancy, had full hook ups, $20. We did not find a Walmart that we would stay the night.
  14. It would be a good idea to add a disconnect before the outlet. You can use one like those used for a hot tub or airconditioner. By using this to "turn off" your circuit at the outlet, you would not be plugging in or unplugging hot which will eliminate arcing and pitting of your motor home plug.

    GEAR Rally

I suggest that you send your questions to John Reynolds, National VP - Eastern Area, at jreynolds@fmca.com.
  16. Probably the task is simply installing another switch in parallel with one of the other switches. Installing a switch in the wall may be harder than mounting one in the vanity cabinet face. The hard part is routing the wire between the two switches. If I remember correctly, the wire will be 4 conductors: ON, Off, Common & Light. You may find an identical switch at a RV Salvage or from the manufacturer of the coach.
  17. We have DirecTV with ABC, CBS & NBC from New York and LA. Your TV may not be able to receive over the air digital signals. There are converters, but replacing the TV is much better. We have Toshiba TVs. The dish receiver cable connects directly to the TV as does over the over the air antenna. We can select the input by a menu option. The quality of over the air reception is better than DirecTV or Cable provided you are within a radius of about 35/40 miles of the broadcasting stations.
  18. It is very doubtful that you will use a full 50 amps on each leg of the circuit; therefore, three #6 wres with a #8 ground will work very well. My 50 amp outlet is wired with #10, but the circuit breaker is 30 amp in the main panel of the house. I could never run 50 amps on either leg, but I am able to run all my appliances and both air conditioners without any problems of over heating or voltage drop. Actual maximum current I have had is 24 amps on one leg and 18 on the other. In your application, you will be safe, and the breaker will protect your wiring.

  20. The rally you are commented about was the Eastern Area Rally just one of 10 areas of Family Motor Coach Association. Most area rallys open on Wednesday and close Sunday morning; therefore, the coach and vendor areas would be open Thurdays - Saturday. We arrived on Monday afternoon and stayed through Sunday morning leaving about noon. The areas operate on a very limited budget. The national conventions have additional resources and computers to make schedules available in advance. We are currently at the Indianapolis Family Reunion (Convention). We volunteer and have been very busy for the past 8 days. Yesterday (Monday) the coach displays opened at 5:00 pm and the indoor vendors opened today (Tuesday). Both will be open through Thursday.
  21. Suggest that you go talk to a reliable concrete supplier. Most have a technical person that will assist you. I used 5,000 # concrete reinforced with fiber glass fibers and crosshatched with reinforcing wire, 8 inches thick under axle area and jacks and 6 inches thick elsewhere.
  22. We have towed A Chevrolet Equinox, 2 wheel drive (4 wheel drive will tow too), pull one fuse (installed a switch to eliminate pulling the fuse) about 20,000 miles without any problems. I can even put my small Cricket golf cart inside while towing. But you need to be satisfied with what you want to tow.
  23. What is new or different about the new sensors you are testing?
  24. We have stayed several times at the Elkhart Campground. It is on County Rd 4. If you travel east on County Rd 4 the RV/MH Hall of Fame is just north of the I-80 interchange. 25. Mine has been in for almost a year, but I do know that infant mortality is common.
