I didn't follow the wiring schematics, but fluctuating voltage 3 to 5 volts leads me in the direction of a control board malfunction. Possibly some oxidation on the terminal ends.

Agree with Brett, no insurance will protect against aging out. Or even excessive tread wear, which is not a problem anyway on any motorhome that I am aware of. Road hazard insurance that most tire companies offer at a very cheap price at the time of installation of a new tire is in many cases a pretty good investment. The cost of changing the tire is normally covered with an emergency road side assistance plan.

Since anything goes here, here is another one. Two attractive young ladies was out walking one night in a new to them neighborhood. They came upon a cemetery and was frightened to walk past it, along came an astute young man who walked them past the cemetery. Time to replace the ATS. If the contacts are fused, and sounds like they are, the circuit breaker on the generator should open to prevent damage to the generator.

Contacts could be fused together or, there is a little control board inside the ATS that senses when the generator is running, this triggers a time delay IC that in turn shunts a transistor which triggers the relays to change from shore power to generator power. Any part if that circuit board that fails will cause the generator circuit to not transfer. Or the contacts on the generator side may have corrosion and or arcs enough to cause the power to not come up. You can turn off most of your AC appliances, crank the generator while still hooked to shore power, the time delay after starting the generator is usually set to 30 seconds. If the contacts are fused, then shore power will remain on even though the generator is running. If the control board is functioning correctly, the power from shore source will cease, now if this happens, the contacts on the generator side will be the culprit. This will let you know what part inside the ATS is bad. Unless you are very handy and can follow instructions well then repair of the ATS is not recommended, though some of us have repaired them in the past. A new ATS is not at all difficult to replace, and are usually not that expensive. I've bought many over the years on ebay for about half the price of RV stores, and had very few failures as long as the RV'er uses the proper protocol in making transfers.

In response to repairing the current grab handle, if you can see the screw heads, the handle should be easily removed, if you don't see them, you can usually find a snap off cover at the bottom, but the picture in cw webpage looks like 3 screws each end. Remove the screws two on each end, then remove the third bottom screw, then carefully holding the handle so that it does not fall and cause damage while removing the top last screw. carefully remove the handle and notice that the wiring is in most times at the bottom, some builders puts them at the top. Pulling the handle carefully separate the wires to fully remove. You can now test the wiring on the MH side to make sure that there is current, should be 12 vdc. If no current look for a blown fuse, if current is present, the bulb is probably blown. If bulb blown then replace. The acrylic clear handle only magnifies the light to give appearance that lights are all the way through it. As Rich said, I'm constantly working om SB's and the MH's, when I quit working them, someone I hope is saying my eulogies. Also the bulb should have a P# on it, Google is your friend for a replacement.

As Bill said, you can replace with a higher capacity battery, but do not replace with a deep cycle, they are not designed to be used in a high discharge environment. The charging wire as noted above is the best solution. Of course if the battery actually needs replacing then of course do that, but if leaving the switch on in accessory mode is causing the drain, then charging wire is what I would do,

I've had similar experiences twice, both times was turbo pipe had broken. Replacing them and inspection of other parts I found other parts including the exhaust manifold to be cracked also. The loss of turbo in both cases and with no turbo sure makes for poor driving because of the loss of power. Mine of course has no DPF because of age. But if after regen, everything seems ok, I would at least have someone with proper test equipment do an evaluation of the engine's performance.

My oldest brother was WWII vet, he went to college on the vet bill, then would never take any other assistance from that including the VA, nor would he ever accept a military discount. My next brother was a Korean war vet, and never took advantage of that. I was just a little soon for the Vietnam conflict and never served. There is only one thing that I would like to point out. The reason given for changing tire size from 275/70/22.5 to 275/80/22.5 is to improve ride, if only on the steer tires, then dual spacing is not an issue, but if for drive axel, then there is an issue. The reason that the ride is more comfortable is that there is more height of the sidewall, which allows for more flex in the sidewall, this in turn means that the dual spacing can not be the same because of the fact there is more flex. One could just measure the difference between treads because that is not the correct place to measure spacing. One should only use the manufacturers spacing because you can not measure that spacing unless you are willing to change weight and tire pressure for all possible occasions, this will change as those factors change. The manufacturer has already taken this into their specifications for you. If one is going to a taller size, then to keep that spacing the same, you will also need to increase the sidewall plies, which in turn lessens the flexibility and goes right back to the stiffer ride. Just some reasoning on the subject.

Not meaning to offend anyone, I was only pointing out the composition of certain things, and why ice is a poor choice for cleaning a black tank, it is cold, unlike hot, and it will not help to loosen any type of greasy substance. I only quoted from your thread to point out that ice is a poor choice. I promise not to offend you again.

Almost any vinyl graphic sign shop can duplicate the graphics on most coaches, and will be glad to change them out, or sell you the duplication and let you change them out for a discounted price, very easy to do this, and usually last 9 to 12 years before need to be replaced again. If you decide to do this, be sure to ask for vinyl with built in UV protection.

Reread the OP Carl. When reading the tire size, 275/70 22.5, the second # 70 indicates that the sidewall height is 70% of the tire width, likewise if it were 80, that means that it is 80% of the tire width. Bill is correct in indicating that the circumference will be 5.6% greater.

The fact that it has flex capability was my main concern, I do not use epoxy compounds because I have not found an epoxy that does have flex capability. The MCI coach came from the factory with an epoxy paint on the roof over aluminum, it was cracked very badly with wide enough cracks that you could see raw aluminum through them. I coated the roof with elastomeric white, this still looks good after 9 years, also reduced inside heat by 12 to 14% overall, and also helps keep heat inside during the winter months.

The solids which make black water tanks be dirtier is in most cases of human waste is close to 30% fat. These fats dissolve at upward of 100 degrees, adding ice is only someones thought that the solidness of ice will help break loose is only a farce. This is why that I always recommend that in addition to using Calgon and dawn one should flush with as hot water is available. This is the only solution that I have found effective in cleaning the black tank. By the way, this is the reason that I always recommend using dawn as opposed to just dish washing liquid, it seems to help dissolve grease much more effectively than most others.

Been there and done that same thing. Once came to an overpass that was too low, a deputy sheriff was behind, he got out and climbed up my ladder to watch to make sure no hangups, I dropped the air in the air bags, and made it with a half inch clearance. Strange thing, there was a state CG just on the other side of the overpass with signs directing campers to go that way, go figure this.

Sikaflex is my go to adhesive sealant, the aircraft industry, and most truck trailer builders use it to apply the aluminum and fiberglass skins. Polyurethane and elastomeric composition, can be ordered online or purchased at any truck/trailer builder. I used it to put the aluminum skins on my coach to cover the windows, nine years and still water tight. On the old Sportscoach that I owned previously, I rebuilt the bay doors with brushed stainless steel, then covered with fiberglass skins, sure beat those fiber covered plywood that was on the coach origionally.
