  1. On a recent trip to New Mexico I was averaging 7.5 mpg driving 62-63 mph, 1600 rpm's; I increased my speed to 70 mph, 1800rpms and my mileage went up to 8 mpg. 400 hp Cummins ISL with about 9000 miles on it. I use Shell Rotella which helps pay for a few minutes per year of Mikes salary.
  2. So your fuel mileage went down and thats good? What part of getting worse fuel mileage is good?
  3. "What is the difference?" Difference compared to what? You need to drive one and hopefully it will be a really windy day.
  4. I agree, call this number and ask how many hours labor and cost of the part. Have your VIN ready. Freightliner Service and Training Center, Gaffney, SC. (855) 253-0421 If you're a member of FCOC, you will receive a 10% discount at most shops.
  5. I had the Horton fan clutch replaced on my previous Cummins ISB while at the Freightliner Service Center in Gaffney. They did the one year maintenance, replaced the shocks and replaced the fan clutch all in an 8 hour day. They did not remove the CAC and radiator to change the fan clutch.
  6. No sir, you do not need to stop.
  7. That photo is unbelievable. Both the intake manifold and coolant temp had to be almost pegging the gages.
  8. I agree, a heads up would be very beneficial to members. Like Richard said, with all the cyber attacks going on it concerns me when I see pop ups like we had yesterday. Thanks, Larry, I appreciate the information as to why we were seeing this pop up.
  9. I have a different opinion, Amazon is a great reference for reviews of the product. I'm not suggesting purchasing from Amazon but I do check reviews on items I'm interested in purchasing. I recently visited with the owner of Tweetys.com and he said they have less returns and /or complaints with the TST System than others, for whatever thats worth.
  10. If the engine is equipped with the Horton fan clutch, this is a true symptom of a bad clutch.
  11. I understand your frustration but I will point out it doesn't appear you should be mad at Newmar but rather the manufacturers of the components you've needed to repair/replace. Newmar didn't design, build or install the Cummins engine, etc. I do question why you needed to replace the "instant water heater" for $3.6 when you could have repaired it. Likewise with the Atwood electric jacks. I wish you success buying and owning your next coach.
  12. I recently read where a campground required you to show your motorhome registration papers at check in. In my opinion, thats a little much. There are several older Prevost, Bluebirds, Foretravels, etc that I guess wouldn't be able to get in to that CG.
  13. You forgot one thing, Herman, what do the drivers do once they deliver the coaches? Do they remain in Utah for a "week or so"? Who pays their expenses while there? Personally, I think it would be about as cheap to charter a plane, rent vehicles and stay in a multi bedroom home. Plus, if they are thinking about going this year it may be hard to get reservations this late.
  14. Ross, since you seem to be the man in the know, who do I contact to receive a copy of the last audited, which I assume would be 2017, income statement? Thanks.
  15. The RF-18 went thru the door on my 2008 Fleetwood Bounder diesel. i had to disconnect the door catch so the door would swing full open. The Nocold went out the same door. The delivery guys from either Lowes or Home Depot (old timers memory) removed the doors from the Samsung, brought in thru the entry door, re-installed the doors and set it in the opening for me and yes they received a nice tip. I did remove the driver and passenger seats for better access. I suggest you do some measuring for height consideration.
  16. Please do come back. Some of us get a little restless at times listening to the same members bloviating.
  17. If you're talking about the roadside checklist, its a printable pdf file.
  18. If you want to keep the pleats nice and stiff, when they are in the raised position spray them with spray starch. Let the starch dry good before lowering them.
  19. I recently bought a new towbar, Blue Ox Avail, 10,000# rated. Since both my Jeep and GMC Canyon were setup for Blue Ox, economically speaking, it was a no brainer for me. I now have a slightly used Blue Ox 7500# aluminum tow bar available.
  20. You probably know this but when you get the measurements make sure they tell you where to take the measurements.
  21. I understand the horse is out of the barn so no use closing the door now but always pull forward a few feet with someone checking to make sure the tow bar latches properly and the brakes aren't dragging.
  22. I thought narrow sites and narrow roads were a standard layout for KOA's.
